Thankful Thursday... in Pictures

It's been awhile since I've done a Thankful Thursday blog, so I thought it was about time!

I'm thankful for my sister and her hubby's generosity and for giving us a gift card to The Cheesecake Factory!

I'm thankful Parker partook of the squaw bread at the restaurant. He called it chocolate bread (and we didn't correct him).

I'm thankful for my silly husband

I'm thankful for Parker's grandparents always doing fun things with him that he doesn't get to do with us very often....

Like riding in a cool wagon.

And getting to eat Mickey Mouse pancakes in preparation for a day at Disneyland!

I'm thankful Parker enjoys playing pretend now....

Here he is pretending to be Grandpa with his new
Hawaiian shirt from Auntie Leann and Uncle Greg.

Giving himself a bubble goatee so he can be Dada

I'm thankful for "baseball" in the house!

I'm thankful for the day Parker kept asking for more raisins. Hey, it's fruit, right?

I'm thankful for Parker's art work...

And for him inspiring me to do my own...

(OK, so I was just using up the paint he didn't use and it took
me only a few minutes to do both of these, but it was still fun!)

I'm thankful Parker has been interested in spelling (especially if it's related to cars).

(Parker: "Mama! Come see! I spelled GMC!") =)

I'm thankful for hot days in the shade with a kiddie pool!

I'm thankful for play dates and silly boys!

I'm thankful Parker can make a car out of just about anything!

And lastly, I'm thankful my husband just sent me a text message saying he was taking a surprise vacation day tomorrow! Woo-hoo!

Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful for P-man wanting to help me with everything, even if it mostly just slows me down or makes a bigger mess. ;)

Washing Dishes

I'm thankful for Parker's new bath markers and crayons. Getting him in the tub is easy as pie now! The crayons are kinda messy, but it's well worth cleaning the tub every day to have a less stressful bath time experience.

He always asks me to draw "Happy Parker" and "Sad Parker"

I'm thankful for our nice walk to the park and the visit to our old neighbor Carly at her new house.

I'm thankful that Parker is interested in the world around him. Even if that means on every walk/tricycle ride I have to tell him the make and model of every vehicle we pass. *laugh* I'm learning a lot about cars because of this kid.

I'm thankful we are getting closer to owning our own place, and it's going to be brand spanking new! Whoever created laws stating that new developments had to incorporate low-income housing... well, may God bless you! ;)

I'm thankful for Gma and Gpa Munns always helping me with Parker.

And I'm thankful that our place is a little cleaner again... for now.

Water Colors Again

P-man is really getting the hang of painting with water colors now. He's quite the little artist. Our walls are rather full and cluttered with his pictures, so I've been saving his most recent ones and decided I'd make a scrap book instead... let's see if I ever get around to that! Watch his technique in the video below!

Coloring and Tattoos

Parker woke up cranky after his nap one day and I hoped that he would be happy coloring while I worked on dinner. He whined a lot wanting me to color with him, and when I told him that I couldn't color with him at the time, he was rather resentful. Coloring himself was his way of getting back at me for not spending time with him. I laughed when I saw him and he seemed rather offended.

Thankful Thursday

  1. I'm grateful that we had a small break from the warm weather.

  2. I'm grateful that Parker went back to napping (for the most part).

  3. I'm grateful I got a nap today!

  4. I'm grateful Jake had a safe trip to and from LA last weekend and hopeful that the one to San Fran this weekend goes well, too.

  5. I'm grateful Parker fell asleep last night while Dada was telling him a story. That's the first time that's ever happened!
  6. I'm grateful for Parker's drawings.

  7. And last, but not least, I'm grateful for decaf Lipton tea.

Water Colors

So we've moved on to yet another art medium, thanks to my big Sis, Leann, who asked us to have Parker paint his cousin Lily a picture for her room for Christmas. He's been practicing with his new watercolors for about a week now. All his paintings so far have ended up with holes from getting rubbed too hard with water, but that just let me know that I'm going to need to get some thicker paper! I just had to take pictures of his first time water coloring. Our neighbor Carly helped show him how to do it.

This Week's Adventures: Part 1

We've been keeping busy this week, starting it off with Parker's appointment with the Urologist on Monday. Fortunately, it looks like unless Parker starts having bladder infections, we won't have to do any further testing. The doc said that the next time Parker has an unexplained fever or a suspected ear infection, to make sure his doctor gets a urine sample as well, just to rule it out. Otherwise, the swelling is in an area that doesn't concern the doctor too much and if all goes well we'll just get another ultrasound in about a year to follow up.

Parker has been teething really badly this week (his 2 year molars are coming in already), and it's been affecting his naps, but we decided to try Ibuprofen again (it used to really upset his tummy) and it's been helping A LOT! So has Orajel and, strangely enough, one of his old toothbrushes. Most teethers can't reach in the back so I decided one day to give him an old toothbrush that is more rubbery than hard and it does bring him some relief. We just decided to buy The Teethifier, and we're hoping he'll like that, too. He hasn't used pacifiers in a long time, so it's hard to say for sure.

Parker's newest words: taco, black, purple, green, yellow, orange, apple, uh-oh, crackers, ball, chocolate, water, yummy, loco, wow (he's already been saying ow for a long time, so this wasn't a real stretch), bum-bum (our word for his butt). Speaking of bum-bum, there are some words that I completely forgot that he's been saying for a long time: Ears, eyes, nose, toes, and penis (sorry, but it's true). He's also been learning his alphabet and these are the letters he remembers the most and will point to and say without coaxing: "D," "N" (this is his favorite lately), "M", "O", "X", and "Z." In any case, Parker's language is really blossoming and we don't feel like he should need speech therapy. Whew! One less thing to have to schedule and worry about.

Anyone who has visited our place knows that Parker loves to color (he's working on filling up all our empty wall space with his pictures), but this week he has been hard core about it since I bought him washable markers. He thinks they are WAY cooler than crayons. Here are just a couple of his masterpieces from this week:

This one is crayon - done solo

This one is (obviously) marker
(a group effort from Parker, Mama and Dada)

This week's adventures part II to follow soon (once we get pics/videos uploaded from our camera) :)
